How To Get The Most Out Of This Site
Junior Soccer Coach

Junior Soccer Coach is an interactive website and we encourage you to have a good look around the site to see what's available to you.

If you have a question about coaching Junior Soccer then 'shoot' on over to the Soccer Discussion Forum where you can post your question and you'll usually have answer back in a short space of time.

You can, of course use the Discussion Forum to post your own views, thoughts or stories about coaching youth soccer.......we're always interested to hear from others!

Unlike many sites we've come across, Junior Soccer Coach uses different formats to present information to help you coach your team and, just as importantly, develop your own coaching skills.

We recognise that people learn using differnt types of modalities (reading, watching, listening & doing) and as such we use a number of software programs to present audio, video and the written word to you.

THE GOOD NEWS is that the software we use is already pre-loaded on 99% of personal computers and Macintosh's sold in the last few years.

HOWEVER, if for any reason you can't watch a video traning session (for example), you can download the relevant software for FREE.

Here's a partial list of where and how you can interact with Junior Soccer Coach

Articles

Junior Soccer Coach is packed full of articles that will help you in your role as a coach. Some articles have images or photgraphs to illustrate a point they make. To see these images you do not need any special software. All images are compressed to enable them to load quickly and cleanly for you to see.

At the bottom of each article page you'll also see a Printer Icon. By clicking on this printer icon you will be able to print out the article on any printer if you wish.

Drills & Exercises

In the Training Ground area of the site  you'll find drills and exercises for the various positions within your team.

In the past, drills in books and on other websites have been illustrated using 0's (noughts) and X's (crosses) to represent players.

Junior Soccer Coach has teamed up with the Internet's leading sports media company to bring you animated drills for you to follow on screen. Not only can you watch the drill all the way through from begining to end....you can also stop the drill at any point, replay it, study it.....AND.......read the written narrative underneath!

It easy to follow.

The technology used is Macromedia Shockwave and comes installed on 99% of computers sold around the world today. HOWEVER, if you can't view the drills you can download a FREE copy of Shockwave from the macromedia site:

Free Shockwave Download

Online Video

As the internet gets faster and PC's can cope with larger volumes of data transfer using broadband technology then it allows us to add some great video content onto our site.

We use FLASH players and Windows Media Players to show all of our video's, you can see an example of this below:

If you can only hear the audio to this soccer video then you need to get your FREE upgrade of the latest Flash Player 8.  You'll be amazed at what you can see!

Flash technology, like Shockwave (see above), is pre installed on most computers and if you can't see any of the videos you can download a free copy from Macromedias site:

Windows Media Player is already pre-installed on all PC's.

Most of the video's are published for viewing over Broadband connection and PC's with a minimum of Pentium III processers operating with Windows XP.  Please note that if you are using a an older PC with dial up modem connection, some video clips will not be viewable or will take longer to load.

Downloads (PDF)

In the Download Area of Junior Soccer Coach you'll find useful documents to help you run your team.

Where possible we've converted the documents into Adobe PDF format as this is the webs most popular format for documents on the web  (And for downloading).

To read a PDF document requires Adobe Acrobat Reader......AGAIN this will already be pre installed on your computer, you won't need to do a thing.

If however, you can't open the PDF you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free here:

Audio Interviews (MP3)

Every fortnight we will add an audio interview to Junior Soccer Coach and you'll also be able to listen to our 'Chat Back' program.

'Chat Back' is where the co-founders of Junior Soccer Coach (Neil Travers & Neil Stafford) talk about their coaching experience and what's happend to them and their teams over the last couple of weeks.

Where many CD's, tapes, video's and DVD's you may buy  comprise of professional footballers or experts no longer involved with Junior Soccer, both Neil's are actively involved in the game today........and you'll be getting real life, what's happing today, feedback.

The audio interviews will be in MP3 format....and you guessed it most PC's have a MP3 already installed.

If not, we recommend that you download Real Player for free from here...
