Parental Needs - What every soccer coach must know

Soccer parents and coaches can work together harmoniously and support each other in developing all soccer players providing they understand roles and responsibilities and be aware of each others needs.

Here is a checklist to help out...

What your parents need from you!

  1. To treat their child with respect and care for them while they are under your supervision
  2. To value their childs effort, enthusiasm and opinions
  3. To help shape and guide their childs development in a manner that reflects their ability, age, experience, desires and aspirations
  4. To help nuture soccer players talents and sportsmanship
  5. To be informed of any problems, provided with opportunities to discuss and be involved in resolutions
  6. To be involved and understand how they can support your philosophy, vision and intentions back at the home
  7. To listen to their concerns, input and suggestions on how you might support them
  8. To believe that a team based approach can work and is fair to all

And, once you've cracked all of these elements it will all be plain sailing.  Not a chance, but this checklist does provide you with some practical guidance.  Run your eye over the list and how many points can you tick off?  The questions that are left is where you should focus some of your attention.
