Motivating Players – Goal setting
Goal setting can be a great tool to increase players’ motivation and confidence. When you agree specific performance goals with each player it gives you and the player a checklist of what’s required to improve or reach a level of achievement. Keep goals smart. S pecific to what the desired outcome should be. M easurable you can’t gauge any improvement unless it can be measured A chievable there is little benefit in setting goals that are not attainable R ealistic it must be within the context of the game T ime-bound within a pre-determined time scale improvement should be observable By following this principle you can improve player performance and also manage parents’ expectations too by agreeing specific performance goals that are required of players.
