Player Evaluation Record
One of the best ways of evaluating your soccer players is to ask them to do some self assessment and grade themselves against key techniques and performance indicators. This downloadable document, will help you to do this. Simply download and print off this individual player development record and ask the players to assess themselves at home and then hand the forms back in at the next training session. A key coaching skill is to observe your players and identify their development areas. Sometimes there can be a mismatch in terms of where you see a players development needs and where they see themselves. Divided into four key categories Technical, Physical, Tactical and Psychological, both you and your players can quickly and easily assess their performance and contribution in your team You can periodically complete these evaluation forms on your players and you will build a great database of player ability and track their development. There are other fringe benefits to developing junior and youth soccer players too. If a player that you've developed for a number of years, suddenly attracts the attention and gets signed up by a league team, you could legitimately ask for some compensation for your team. This could be in the form of some extra equipment for your team, the use of their training facilities or an invitation to play at their club tournament. If you can prove you've developed that player (and this form will enable you do this) then you could legitimately ask for compensation.
