Players need a certain mentality to play up front as strikers here are six key attributes to look for in your players to see if they have what it takes.

#1 They are risk takers, players who take the easy or safe option in and around the box will not win matches.

#2 They relish having the opportunity to perform difficult techniques in testing circumstance to get that extra yard.

#3 They take responsibility in the box and their first option is always to get a shot away.

#4 They understand that missing the target is part of the game. As the old saying goes "if you don't buy a ticket you can't win the raffle". Here strikers understand completely that they may need 12 missed chances before scoring.

#5 They enjoy the physical challenge and fear no-one. Also, they tend to possess a certain arrogance.

#6 If they squander a good chance to shoot it is worse than missing. Defenders hate a striker who is willing to punt at a shot from wherever in the box.
