At a game today I heard a coach repeatingly shout to his players "Turn and face!"

The players didn't do as they were instructed so the coach shouted again "Turn and face!"

What the coach was wanting was his players to look at his goal keeper who had the ball and was ready to distribute it. Instead they were still advancing up the park.

The players didn't understand the instruction.

What would have been more useful would be to give instruction in a simple kid like manner that they could understand, such as........

"Turn to Joey (Goalie) and watch where he is playing the ball to.

Let's make sure we win the ball with a challenge as soon as it lands."

This way the children get exactly the right message in clear and constructive message.

I'm sure there are a couple of senior players who would get confused by a shout of "turn and face".

Just a thought from today's matches.
