Do you prompt your playerďż˝s actions?

Sometimes itďż˝s easier to see the build up play when you are not involved in the game.

This is particularly the case with younger players who are learning the game. One way to improve player understanding is to think ahead and give them some prompts to enable them to read the game and make the next correct move.

If you coach your players using this method you should allow them plenty of time to assimilate the information youďż˝ve given them and allow them to readjust their positioning.

If used correctly, this is an excellent coaching skill to improve players reactions to tactical openings and to persuade players to change their style of play, especially if they are having limited success with the way they normally play.

There are plenty of occasions when you can use this method, but donďż˝t over do it.

Why?

Players will start to disengage from the game and will be relying on your instructions on what to do next.

Great footballers are not only great technical players, itďż˝s how they read the game and the decisions they make that makes them stand out!
